If you have ever moved homes or offices before, you know its an overwhelming task with a million minor items on your to-do list that absolutely have to be done. But moving day doesn’t have to be stressful for you and your family. You can try some simple tips & hacks that we have put together to make your moving process a relatively simple one.

  1. Start packing early – Don’t put off packing till the last minute. When you start to pack you will realize the list is never-ending. Also, you might realize some of your things need special packing because they are fragile.
  2. Downsize as much as possible – Even if you are moving to a bigger space. Less is beautiful. Rule of thumb for packing is if you haven’t used something in the past month you likely do not need it.
  3. Sort – Use, Store, Throw, Donate – Categorize each item in one of four piles – use, throw, store or donate. This will help clear a majority of things for you.
  4. One room at a time – Take on one room at a time. Otherwise, you are going to have boxes of things that belong to multiple rooms and unpacking is going to be a lengthier process.
  5. Boxes, plastics & bags – Not everything needs a box. If you are packing clothes, soft toys or bedding, you could just use trash bags. For medicines, spices, oil & things that spill you can use plastic boxes.
  6. Documents and valuables – Make sure you set aside your valuables and important documents. You must carry these with you on your person.
  7. Essentials for a week – In all the packing and moving, it often happens that you misplace some essential item that you need in your daily routine. To save yourself some time and effort to search through all your boxes, it is recommended you pack a bag with your essentials such as toiletries, medicines, your gadgets, chargers etc.
  8. Fragile items – Pack all your items made of glass and ceramic separately. Get packing material such as bubble-wrap, thermocol beans from the store or get your supply through your moving agency.
  9. Labels & Lists – Make Lists of everything in each box and stick them on the box next to the label. You don’t want to open a whole bunch of boxes, all labeled Kitchen when all you are looking for your is your knife.
  10. Number your boxes and items – Make sure to number all your boxes and at the time of loading keep a count of all items including boxes. This will be very helpful at the time of unloading. A master list of all boxes and their contents is recommended or sometimes it might be months before you realize you are missing a box.
  11. Hire a handyman – If you have furniture that can be dismantled, it would be easier to move. If you are short on time or need help with it, you can book our handyman services.

Use these tips and enjoy reduced stress for your move. Happy Moving!
